Michael Maggrett
Member Since - August 2010
Office/Position - Staff Representative
I grew up in the city of Washington D.C. from birth to early adulthood. My mother served as Director of women’s organizations such as General Federation of Women’s Club and National Organization of Women. After receiving my Associate’s Degree in Fine Art from Montgomery College, I packed up my ’67 Thunderbird and moved to Pueblo in 1996.
On my first day here, I met my wife. When we began dating, I noticed that in her license plate number was my exact birthday in sequence. We were married soon after. Our son Hunter is the light of our lives and will be entering preschool this year.
I received my BS in Fine Art and Minor in History at CSU-P (then USC), two subjects I have undying hunger for. After having worked one year as a substitute teacher for D60, I became the Media Specialist at St. John Neumann Catholic School for four years. During this time, I completely cataloged two separate libraries of books into their new Library of Congress synchronized OPAC system. I also built two computer labs and programs from the ground up.
When my wife became pregnant, fate again played its hand. I noticed that CCA was looking for an art teacher and leapt at the opportunity to serve in my professional field.
This is my fifth year as our elementary art teacher. Being able to share my talent and enthusiasm with our kids is the Zenith of my career. I consider CCA as an extension of my family. Our dedicated staff is a collection of quirky, happy people who I am privileged to share my life with.
