Karen Studen

Karen moved to Pueblo in 1972 after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado. She worked for the Pueblo County Department of Social Services for 17 years, first as a Child Protection Social Worker, then as an Administrator. After leaving Pueblo, Karen served as the Executive Director of the Department of Human Services in Chaffee County for 3 years. She then moved to Denver to become the Director of the State Division of Child Welfare. In 1998 she returned to Pueblo to become the Court Administrator for the 10th Judicial District, a job she held until her retirement.
Karen has served on many local, regional, state and national organizations, many with a focus on supporting families and children. She is a member of St. Pius X Church and since her retirement in 2006 she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and doing decorative painting. She also continues to be a strong advocate for children.
Karen believes all parents and children should have a choice in the education they receive and is a strong supporter of the mission of both CCA and DHPH.
