Arlen Arguello

Cesar Chavez Academy Middle School
Mr. Arguello was awarded an academic scholarship to Adams State College in 1982 where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry. For ten years he worked as a research chemist and manager of FDA and USDA registration projects.
In 1998, he accepted the challenge of public education and earned his teaching certification in the content area of science. In 2004,he was honored as teacher of the year for Centennial School district. Also in 2004, he was recognized and listed in "Who's Who among America's High School Teachers". Both awards are especially meaningful since the nominations orginated from students and teachers.
The Arguello family later moved to Pueblo, CO to teach middle science at the Cesar Chavez Academy and subsequently became one of the founding instructors at Dolores Huerta Preparatory High's early college program. Mr. Arguello then moved to Administration and served as the Director of Curriculum and Assessment at Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School and the Cesar Chavez School Network. In 2010 he earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO.
He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Arguello remains an active advocate of education with the philosophy that all students can achieve at high levels when properly motivated and instructed. He is currently pursuing a second Master's Degree in Applied Natual Science (chemistry) from Colorado State University-Pueblo.
